Valentine crepes with caramel sea salt and goat cheese
We all know it: love goes through the stomach. But why should it always have to be with something ant-sweet? These savory Valentine crepes bring everything together: creamy goat cheese, crunchy walnuts, sweet honey and a delicious caramel sauce with Zeeuwsche Zoute Puur. A surprising combination that shows that a little contrast can actually be exciting. Whether you make them for your partner, a date or just for yourself, this is a dish to enjoy together. Easy to make, exceptional in taste and perfect for a romantic dinner party!
Preparation
Step 1: Making crepes
- Mix the flour with 1 tsp (5 gr) and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and gradually add the milk.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and whisk to form a smooth batter. Stir in the melted butter.
- Heat a frying pan with a little butter and fry thin crepes until golden brown on both sides. Keep them warm under foil.
Step 2: Making salted caramel
- Heat the granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat without stirring.
- Once the sugar is melted and golden brown, add the butter and stir well.
- Slowly pour in the whipping cream and keep stirring until a smooth sauce forms.
- Add the cavernous flakes of Zeeuwsche Zoute Puur and stir again. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
Step 3: Filling crepes
- Brush each crepe with soft goat cheese and drizzle with honey.
- Sprinkle chopped walnuts and a few thyme leaves on top.
- Add a small amount of coarse Zeeland Salt Pure for extra flavor.
Step 4: Serving
- Fold the crepes in half or roll them up.
- Drizzle the salted caramel sauce on top and serve immediately.
- Optional: garnish with additional walnuts or thyme for a beautiful presentation.
