Tarte tatin with caramel and Zeeland Salt Pure

That the combination of caramel and sea salt is delicious, we don’t have to tell you anymore. However, we do have another delicious recipe where you can enjoy this taste sensation. Make this tarte tatin as a pastry with coffee or as a dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The caramel gets extra strength with Zeeuwsche Zoute Puur.

1 hour

We start this recipe by making the caramelized apples. To do this, peel the apples, remove the core and cut the apple in half. Then put the sugar and water together in a saucepan. Turn the heat low so that the sugar melts slowly. When the sugar is completely melted, let it cook for a few more minutes, but make sure it doesn’t get too brown. Remove the pan from the heat and immediately stir the butter into the melted sugar, then stir in Zeeuwsche Zoute Puur.

Place the apples in the baking dish/firm cake pan with the cut side up. Pour the caramel over this. Set this whole thing aside to cool for 10 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, prepare the pie by rolling out the puff pastry and spreading it over the apples. Fold the edge of the puff pastry inward. Be careful not to move the apples during this process for the best results when the cake is done.

Now bake the tarte tatin for 30 minutes until done. When the half hour is up let it cool for another 5 minutes. Then grab a large plate upside down on the cake pan. Turn quickly and remove the pie pan from the tarte tatin.

The cake is ready, enjoy!
