Sea Salt Samphire year-round

Het lekkerste zout van Nederland vind je in Zeeland

Marsh samphire is a plant that grows at the edge of the sea; it is a typical seasonal vegetable. This plant is known for its fresh, salty taste, which goes perfectly with all kinds of dishes. Marsh samphire only grows in only certain seasons, but with Zeeland Salt you can enjoy this salty taste all year round. Yes indeed, even in winter!

How is Zeeland Salt Marsh samphire made

The tastiest samphire in the country is grown by Zeeuws Zilt on the transition area between land and sea in the Oosterschelde. When the plant stands about 8 inches tall, it is harvested. After harvesting, the samphire is taken to Zeeuws Zoute, where it is dried in special racks. This process ensures that the flavor is retained. After the samphire is completely dried, the next step begins: blending. The dried marsh samphire is mixed with our salt that is traditionally extracted from the Oosterschelde estuary. This results in a particularly refined taste: Zeeuwsche Zoute Zeekraal.

Samphire is also called the asparagus of the sea and a typical seasonal vegetable.
