Spring is the season to get started with light, fresh dishes. The days are getting longer, the temperatures more pleasant, and many vegetables are now at their best. Broccolini – a cross between broccoli and Chinese broccoli – is a perfect spring vegetable: crunchy, flavorful and quick to prepare. In this recipe, we combine grilled broccolini with the deep umami flavor of Zeeland Salt Black Garlic, fresh lemon and Parmesan cheese. A simple dish that can be served both as a side dish or light lunch, and which is best enjoyed when prepared outdoors on the grill or barbecue.

Rinse the broccolini and pat dry. Cut away any hard undersides.
In a bowl, mix the broccolini with the olive oil and black garlic salt.
Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat (or use the barbecue).
Grill the broccolini for 4-5 minutes, turning frequently, until the stems are al dente and lightly charred.
Place the grilled broccolini on a platter. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with lemon zest.
Finish the dish with Parmesan cheese and black pepper. Enjoy your meal!
